McNeilus Parts Identification & Cross-Reference Guide

McNeilus is one of the most common refuse body manufacturers on the road. Getting the right replacement part the first time comes down to identifying the body model, locating the serial number, and cross-referencing the OEM part number to an will fit equivalent.

Identifying the McNeilus body

McNeilus builds rear-load, side-load (automated and manual), and front-load bodies. Common model families include the Rear Loader (RL/Standard), Pacific (front loader), Atlantic (automated side loader), and ZR (rear loader). Identify the family first — packer and tailgate parts vary significantly between them.

Where to find the serial number

The McNeilus body serial number is stamped on a tag — usually located on the curb-side front of the body, near the cab shield, or on the inside of the hopper rail. The tag lists the model, serial, and build date. Photograph the tag before ordering — the serial tells the parts specialist exactly which sub-assembly drawings apply to your unit.

Cross-referencing to will fit equivalents

Many McNeilus components — hydraulic cylinders, packer blade wear strips, tailgate cylinders, hopper liners, and electrical sensors — have will fit equivalents at a fraction of the OEM cost. Start with the OEM part number stamped on the component (or listed in the parts manual for the serial number), then search our catalog for the cross-reference. Our part listings include OEM and supersession numbers so you can confirm the fit before ordering.
